Day 1 - GR Robertson did not take his place in the field (back spasm on morning of the game). Although chosen in the XI he took no part in the match.
- PR Reiffel failed to complete his second over (groin), completed by BP Julian.
- MS Kasprowicz failed to complete his nineteenth over (hamstring), completed by BP Julian.
- Five substitute fielders were used by Australian XI during the England 1st innings: official 12th man JA Dykes (Queensland), AR Border (Australian XI coach and national selector), and Hobart club players S Fingas, ? Costello and NG Webb.
Day 2 - MA Atherton 210*: Highest FC score (previous best 199 Lancashire v Durham, Gateshead 1992)
Day 4 - Australian XI set 376 for victory in 78 overs.
- On 38 Blewett reached 1000 fc runs in the 1998-99 Australian season, the sixth person of all-time to do so before December 31.
- Blewett 213*: Fourth consecutive FC century
